FTPhoto Software System Requirements
FTPhoto “calls in” to get the login/password from an encrypted file on your web site. We do the initial setup, then the lab has a “Configurator” program to use if editing is ever required. You could, for instance, choose to change the password, URL, etc., and not worry about “breaking” your clients. You can even move and the client software will be updated with the new address.
Additionally, the lab also uses a special provided program to open the order forms, which are encrypted to protect personal information.
The customer software is provided in versions for macOS, Windows and Linux (GTK+3, tested on Ubuntu and “Mint Cinnamon” Linux distributions.)
Lab requirements:
•An FTP server with an account for the software to use. FTPhoto can also be configured for individual customer accounts if so desired. For security, while traditional FTP is supported, FTP over SSL/TLS (FTPS) is highly recommended.
• To use the email confirmation feature, an SMTP email account for FTPhoto to use. If none, the feature is quietly disabled (i.e, no disquieting error warnings or such.)
• Web hosting space to host the configuration and price/service files that FTPhoto reads. Also your website is traditionally how you distribute the software to your customers.
